Clavicular shaft anatomy dominates this inferior view of the clavicle (collarbone), emphasizing the roughened undersurface rather than the smoother superior contour. Along the midshaft, the sulcus for the subclavius muscle runs longitudinally, positioned anterior to the posteroinferior ligamentous markings and aligned with the long axis of the bone. Medially, the costal (sternal) end transitions into the impression for the costoclavicular ligament on the inferior surface, while laterally the conoid tubercle rises on the posteroinferior aspect with the trapezoid line extending anterolaterally toward the acromial end. Bony texture tells the story. These inferior landmarks matter because they map the stabilizing restraints of the shoulder girdle: the costoclavicular ligament tethers the clavicle to the first rib, and the coracoclavicular ligament (conoid and trapezoid parts) suspends the scapula from the clavicle, resisting superior displacement seen in acromioclavicular separation.
