Anteriorly, an elongated, annulated body terminates in a widened cephalic region with a distinct oral sucker, while the posterior end tapers toward a broader caudal sucker used for fixation. Repeating external ridges emphasize true metameric segmentation along the longitudinal axis, and the ventral surface contours toward the attachment structures. Color is rendered in green tones with reddish-orange accents at the anterior attachment margin. Not a Demodex mite. That mismatch matters. Demodex (an acari arthropod) has a short gnathosoma, four pairs of stubby legs clustered anteriorly, and a striated opisthosoma, features that drive clinical discussions of demodicosis, blepharitis, and rosacea, and they are not interchangeable with hirudinean anatomy.
