Description
At approximately 34 weeks of gestation the fetus is shown in a lateral profile, lying in a flexed attitude within the translucent amniotic sac and surrounded by amniotic fluid. The head is well developed with fine scalp hair, a formed auricle, closed eyelids and rounded facial contours reflecting accumulating subcutaneous fat. The upper limbs are folded across the chest with the fingers close to the face, while the lower limbs are drawn up in the characteristic fetal posture, and the toes and nail beds are clearly modelled.
