Description
A fetus of approximately 33 weeks' gestation lies curled within the uterine cavity, seen from close range with the head inverted in the lower half of the frame. Fine scalp hair covers the calvaria, the eyelids remain fused shut over the developing orbits, and the rounded cheek and nasal profile show the subcutaneous fat accumulation typical of the third trimester. The flexed thigh and knee press toward the trunk, the shoulder and upper limb fold across the chest, and the small hand with individually formed fingers rests near the face.
