Description
Respiratory morphology is presented as a whole-lung organ view, with the trachea dividing at the carina into right and left main bronchi that branch into lobar and segmental bronchi within the pulmonary parenchyma. The right lung sits lateral to the mediastinum and is typically organized into superior, middle, and inferior lobes separated by the horizontal and oblique fissures, while the left lung lies more medial in contour with superior and inferior lobes divided by an oblique fissure and an anteromedial cardiac notch. Alongside the bronchial tree, the pulmonary arteries track with the bronchi toward the periphery, and the pulmonary veins course more intersegmentally toward the hilum. Clear lobar asymmetry. Understanding the three-dimensional bronchovascular pattern matters when you need to localize disease by bronchopulmonary segment and anticipate lymphatic and vascular drainage pathways from a given region of lung.
