Description
Rendered as a full-body male figure with a translucent body wall, the vascular tree is presented from the head to the toes with arteries in red and veins in blue. Superiorly, the common carotid arteries and jugular veins ascend in the neck, while smaller branches spread across the face and scalp; centrally, the heart sits in the middle mediastinum with the aorta arching superiorly before descending as the thoracic and abdominal aorta anterior to the vertebral column. Distally, the subclavian to axillary to brachial pathways supply the upper limbs, and the external iliac to femoral to popliteal to tibial vessels course into the lower limbs, running largely medial to the long bones and then fanning into arterioles, venules, and capillary beds in the hands and feet. Bilateral symmetry reads clearly. A whole-body vascular map in a semi-lateral, right-sided profile makes it easier to teach continuity, how a single outflow tract becomes regionally named arteries, and how the venous return mirrors those routes while shifting into superficial and deep systems. This perspective is also a practical way to discuss clinically common pulse points and compression sites (carotid, brachial, femoral, dorsalis pedis) and why plaque at carotid bifurcation, abdominal aortic aneurysm below the renal arteries, and deep vein thrombosis in the calf or femoropopliteal segment matter. Layering is the lesson. So is distance from the heart. Use this illustration in gross anatomy and physiology courses when introducing systemic circulation, in patient-education material explaining peripheral arterial disease or varicose veins, and in vascular surgery or interventional radiology publications that need a clean orientation reference for access routes and catheter navigation.
