Description
Spanning from the cranial vault to the plantar feet, the male systemic circulation is rendered as a continuous arterial and venous tree anchored on the thoracic heart. Proximally, the ascending aorta gives rise to the aortic arch and its major branches supplying the head, neck, and upper limbs, while the descending thoracic and abdominal aorta continues inferiorly to feed the pelvis and lower extremities via the common iliac arteries. Companion veins course alongside many arterial pathways, with superficial and deep channels converging into larger capacitance vessels that return to the right atrium through the superior and inferior venae cavae. At the tissue level, arterioles taper into capillary beds and reunite as venules, emphasizing the transition from distribution to exchange. Clinically, an all-body vascular map like this is most useful when you need to teach or reference the logic of flow and the anatomic territories affected by occlusion, embolism, or hemorrhage.
