Description
Spanning from the cranial vault to the distal feet, the male skeleton is presented as a pale bony scaffold with the systemic venous network overlaid in blue. Superficial and deep veins track along the limbs, with the internal jugular veins descending in the cervical region to join the brachiocephalic veins, which converge into the superior vena cava anterior to the thoracic vertebral column. Inferiorly, the inferior vena cava ascends in the retroperitoneum toward the right atrium, while paired iliac and femoral veins run medial to their companion bones, continuing distally as popliteal and tibial veins in the leg.
