Description
Radiograph-style transparency frames an adult male arterial tree from cranium through upper torso, with the internal carotid and vertebral arteries feeding an intracranial network at the base of the brain and along the circle of Willis. Inferiorly, paired common carotid arteries ascend in the neck lateral to the cervical vertebral column, while the subclavian arteries pass laterally toward the shoulder girdles to continue as axillary and brachial arteries in the proximal upper limbs. Centrally, the heart and proximal great vessels anchor the composition, and smaller arterioles and peripheral vessels branch distally to suggest whole-body distribution. Color separation also allows parallel nervous system elements to sit posterior to the mediastinal vessels and within the vertebral canal. That cranio-cervical corridor is a frequent site of clinically meaningful pathology: carotid bifurcation atherosclerosis, vertebral artery dissection after cervical rotation or trauma, and embolic stroke patterns mapped back to internal carotid circulation. The juxtaposition of major arteries with the skull base and cervical spine helps when teaching why endarterectomy targets the common carotid to internal carotid transition, and why vertebrobasilar insufficiency produces posterior circulation signs. A clear arterial course matters. It sets orientation for catheter angiography, CTA/MRA interpretation, and surgical exposure planning around the neck and thoracic inlet. Neuroanatomy and cardiovascular courses can use this plate to bridge the circle of Willis, cervical vessels, and proximal great-vessel anatomy in one continuous field. It also suits stroke education materials, neurosurgical and vascular surgery atlases, and patient-facing explanations of carotid stenosis or vertebral artery injury where a simplified x-ray aesthetic reads quickly.
