Description
Anterior thoracic venous anatomy is presented in an x-ray style through a semi-transparent male chest, with the heart centered in the mediastinum and the major collecting veins rendered in blue against a black background. Superiorly, the right and left brachiocephalic veins converge to form the superior vena cava, which descends along the right side of the upper mediastinum to enter the right atrium. Laterally, paired subclavian and internal jugular veins contribute to the brachiocephalic trunks, while the azygos vein arches over the right main bronchus to join the superior vena cava. Smaller venules and tributary vessels branch across the upper thorax, framing the great vessels and cardiac silhouette. For teaching and clinical communication, this view clarifies the relationship of deep veins to the sternum, clavicles, and mediastinal organs, a frequent sticking point when learners move from surface anatomy to central access.
