Description
Rendered in lateral profile, the adult female figure is shown with semi-transparent integument revealing superficial and intermediate muscle groups from shoulder to thigh. Superiorly, the deltoid caps the glenohumeral region while trapezius spans from the occipital region and nuchal ligament to the scapular spine, sitting posterior to the clavicle and acromion. Inferior and posterior to the axilla, latissimus dorsi sweeps toward the humerus, and triceps brachii occupies the posterior compartment of the arm; along the flank, the external oblique forms the anterolateral abdominal wall, continuous inferiorly toward the iliac crest and the proximal thigh where gluteal contours transition into the posterior thigh (hamstring) mass. Clinically, a lateral muscular overlay is the fastest way to teach how surface form maps to functional compartments and to likely pain generators.
