Description
Posterior anatomy of an adult female torso and shoulder girdle is rendered with the superficial and deep scapulothoracic layers in register. Trapezius spans from the occipital region and nuchal ligament inferiorly toward the thoracic spinous processes, inserting laterally along the acromion and spine of the scapula, while the posterior deltoid caps the lateral shoulder over the glenohumeral joint. Inferior and lateral to the scapular spine, infraspinatus occupies the infraspinous fossa and courses laterally to the greater tubercle of the humerus, and latissimus dorsi sweeps from the lower thoracic region superolaterally toward the intertubercular sulcus. Fiber direction is explicit. Subtle bony landmarks (scapula, posterior ribs, vertebral column, proximal humerus) anchor the muscle attachments.
