Description
Rendered in lateral profile, the female skull is presented as an integrated craniofacial unit with the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital bones forming the cranial vault around the calvarial sutures. Anteriorly, the zygomatic bone bridges the lateral orbit to the zygomatic process of the temporal bone, while the maxilla supports the upper dentition and frames the piriform aperture. Inferior to the cranial base, the mandible sits anterior and inferior to the temporal bone, its condylar process articulating at the temporomandibular joint, with the hyoid suspended in the anterior neck and the upper cervical vertebrae aligned posteriorly beneath the occiput. Teeth are shown in both dental arches. Clear landmarks. A true lateral view helps you teach and assess occlusion, jaw position, and the bony contributors to airway caliber in a way an anterior view cannot.
