Presented in posterior aspect, an elderly Black male figure is rendered with the integument made transparent to reveal thoracic and abdominopelvic viscera in situ. Bilateral lungs occupy the posterolateral thoracic cavities with the heart positioned slightly left of midline, anterior to the vertebral column and superior to the diaphragm. Inferiorly, the stomach and small intestine transition to the large intestine within the abdominal cavity, while the kidneys sit retroperitoneally on either side of the spine, the right typically a little more inferior than the left. Along the midline, the descending thoracic aorta continues as the abdominal aorta, with the inferior vena cava lying to its right as both course inferiorly toward the pelvis.
