Description
Presented as an x-ray style transparent male figure, the head, neck, and upper torso are overlaid with the major arterial pathways in red, centered on the heart in the middle mediastinum. Superiorly, branches course through the face and calvaria from the common carotid arteries and their internal and external carotid distributions, while inferiorly the aortic arch gives rise to the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid, and left subclavian arteries. Laterally, the subclavian arteries continue into the axillary and brachial arteries of the upper limbs, with paired venous channels suggested alongside in the same red treatment. Spatial relationships are clear. Proximal great vessels sit medial and anterior to the vertebral column, with more distal limb vessels tracking into the arms. An x-ray view of the thoracic inlet and aortic arch is where learners tend to lose orientation, and this angle helps anchor the arch branches to the midline heart and ascending aorta. That matters in clinical workups for carotid stenosis and aortic arch pathology, and it is also the map you need before placing central venous catheters or approaching the subclavian region where inadvertent arterial puncture can occur. The juxtaposition of heart, arch, and neck vessels supports teaching the continuity from left ventricular outflow tract to cerebral perfusion. Clean topography. Use this artwork in gross anatomy and cardiovascular modules to reinforce the naming and continuity of the great arteries, and in nursing or paramedic education to contextualize pulse points and arterial access sites from the neck to the upper limb. It also fits medical publishing layouts that need a single plate introducing systemic arterial circulation with a radiographic aesthetic for patient education or interventional radiology overviews.
