Description
Rendered in an x-ray style posterior view of an adult male, the arterial tree is traced from the cranial vault down the neck and back, with paired vessels running lateral to the vertebral column and continuing into the upper limbs and pelvis. Superiorly, the carotid and vertebral pathways are suggested as they ascend toward the base of skull, while in the thorax the descending aorta tracks inferiorly along the left side of the vertebral bodies before bifurcating into the common iliac arteries. Segmental and limb supply courses are implied by the subclavian to axillary to brachial continuum, with distal branches extending toward the forearm and hand; pelvic outflow continues into the femoral distribution toward the lower limb.
