Description
Layered thoracic and abdominal viscera are presented within an elderly male torso, with the trachea descending in the midline toward the lungs and the diaphragm forming the superior boundary of the abdominal cavity. Inferior to the diaphragm, the liver occupies the right upper quadrant, while the stomach lies more to the left, with the spleen tucked posterolateral to the gastric fundus and the pancreas running transversely in the epigastrium. Centrally, coils of jejunum and ileum are framed by the large intestine, with the ascending colon on the right, transverse colon crossing superiorly, and descending and sigmoid segments curving into the left lower quadrant. Mesenteric and peritoneal reflections are emphasized as thin connective tissue sheets suspending these organs from the posterior abdominal wall. For teaching topography, this kind of semi-transparent organ overlay reads like a living surface anatomy map, linking external landmarks to visceral position in an older body habitus.
