Presented in lateral profile, a transparent hemithorax reveals the pediatric respiratory tract from the cervical trachea descending into the thorax and bifurcating at the carina into the right and left main bronchi. The inflated lungs occupy the pleural cavities anterior and lateral to the mediastinum, with the right lung showing its lobar contour and the bronchial tree coursing centrally before branching distally toward the peripheral parenchyma. Bronchi taper into smaller bronchioles, directing airflow toward the alveolar regions implied by the fine parenchymal texture. Chest wall landmarks remain external, but the emphasis stays on intrathoracic airway and lung volume. A side view like this clarifies pediatric airway geometry in a way frontal projections often flatten, from the relatively short trachea to the more vertical course of the right main bronchus.
