Description
Across a semi-translucent male body silhouette, the heart sits in the middle mediastinum with its apex directed inferolaterally to the left, giving rise superiorly to the ascending aorta and aortic arch. From the arch, the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid artery, and left subclavian artery course into the neck and upper limbs, while the descending thoracic aorta continues inferiorly through the posterior thorax toward the abdomen.
