Deep Femoral Vein

Description

Running deep to the adductor longus and sartorius, the deep femoral vein (vena profunda femoris) courses proximally in the medial thigh and converges with the femoral vein just inferior to the inguinal ligament. Perforating veins pass posteriorly toward the linea aspera, linking the deep venous drainage of the posterior compartment with the main profunda femoris trunk. Superficial to this axis, the great saphenous vein approaches the saphenofemoral junction, while inguinal lymph nodes and accompanying lymphatic vessels track alongside the femoral vessels within the femoral triangle. Relationships matter.
