Superiorly, paired common carotid arteries ascend in the neck alongside the internal jugular veins, while the vertebral arteries track through the transverse foramina toward the posterior cranial fossa. In the back and thoracoabdominal midline, the descending thoracic aorta continues as the abdominal aorta anterior to the vertebral bodies, with the azygos system and inferior vena cava represented as dominant venous conduits, and segmental posterior intercostal and lumbar vessels coursing laterally toward the thoracic wall and posterior abdominal wall. Distally, the upper limb vasculature extends from the subclavian into axillary and brachial trunks toward the radial and ulnar distributions, and the lower limb outflow and return track into femoral and popliteal pathways with peripheral branches visible at the extremities. Fine vessels reach the hands and feet. Posterior orientation makes this rendering practical for teaching how major conduits relate to the spine, ribs, and scapular region, an anatomic relationship that often gets lost in purely anterior “diagram” views.
