Description
Arising from the thoracic cage at the level of T10, the tenth rib (costa X) is presented from its medial aspect, where the head and neck sit immediately lateral to the vertebral bodies and the rib angles anterolaterally toward its distal shaft. The costovertebral and costotransverse articulations are implied along the posterior thorax, with the rib’s internal surface facing the pleural cavity and the external surface directed toward the thoracic wall musculature.
