Oriented from an inferior aspect, the transparent left first maxillary molar (permanent M1) is isolated in blue against a translucent maxilla, letting you read both the crown and the roots in one glance. The occlusal table forms the familiar rhomboid outline with four major cusps, the mesiobuccal and distobuccal cusps lateral to the palatal pair, and an oblique ridge running from the mesiolingual (mesiopalatal) cusp toward the distobuccal cusp. Apically, three roots diverge, two buccal roots positioned lateral to a single, larger palatal root that lies more medial and often extends farther inferiorly.
