Description
Beginning at the cervical trachea, the sequence tracks airflow past the carina into the right and left main bronchi, then along the lobar and segmental bronchi as they arborize toward the bronchioles and alveolar sacs. The right lung appears larger and more vertical, divided into superior, middle, and inferior lobes by the horizontal and oblique fissures, while the left lung sits slightly more medial over the cardiac impression with superior and inferior lobes separated by the oblique fissure and bordered anteriorly by the lingula. As the camera moves from an anterior to a slightly posterolateral perspective, translucent ribs, sternum, and thoracic vertebrae provide skeletal landmarks for the apices (superior to the first rib) and the diaphragmatic bases (inferior), with the hila shown medially where bronchi and pulmonary vessels enter. Open lumens and smooth bronchial caliber anchor the teaching point: what normal patency looks like before you discuss obstruction.
