Description
Dominating the posterolateral trunk, the latissimus dorsi spreads as a broad, triangular sheet from the lower thoracic and lumbar midline toward the humerus, its superior fibers passing deep to the posterior axillary fold. Superior and medial to it, the trapezius overlies the upper back from the nuchal region to the scapular spine, while the deltoid caps the shoulder laterally and the long head region of triceps brachii is visible on the posterior arm distal to the axilla.
