Description
Dorsal and plantar venous networks of the male foot are rendered with continuity into the distal leg, tracing the dorsal venous arch across the metatarsals and its medial and lateral drainage toward the great saphenous vein and small saphenous vein, respectively. Distally, digital veins converge into metatarsal veins, then pass proximally around the malleolar regions, where superficial channels communicate with deeper venae comitantes accompanying the anterior tibial, posterior tibial, and fibular (peroneal) arteries. Perforating veins are suggested where superficial collectors dive deep through the crural fascia. Blue dominates. Contrast highlights key trunks. Understanding these superficial and deep connections matters whenever you assess edema, varicosities, or venous ulcer risk in the distal lower limb, because reflux patterns often involve incompetent perforators at the ankle and along the medial leg feeding the great saphenous system.
