Description
Running distally from the forearm into the palm, the red arterial system can be read as the radial and ulnar arteries approaching the wrist on the lateral (radial) and medial (ulnar) sides, then feeding the superficial and deep palmar arches. Common palmar digital arteries branch anteriorly from the arches and divide into proper palmar digital arteries along the sides of each finger, continuing to terminal arcades at the distal phalanges. Blue venous channels accompany this distribution with paired deep veins (venae comitantes) alongside the arteries and a more superficial dorsal venous network draining proximally toward the cephalic vein laterally and basilic vein medially.
