Description
Posterior trunk musculature is rendered with the iliocostalis lumborum highlighted along the lateral column of the erector spinae, lying lateral to the longissimus thoracis and deep to the broad sheet of latissimus dorsi. Inferiorly, its tendinous and aponeurotic fibers blend with the thoracolumbar fascia over the posterior iliac crest, sacrum, and posterior superior iliac spine region, then course superiorly to insert onto the angles of the lower ribs.
