Running along the dorsolateral aspect of the male foot and ankle, superficial lymphatic capillaries coalesce into collecting vessels that parallel the contours of the tarsus and metatarsus, tracing the medial and lateral longitudinal arches and sweeping distally toward the toes. With the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles removed, the bony framework remains prominent, including the calcaneus and talus proximally, the navicular and cuboid, the cuneiforms, and the metatarsals leading to the phalanges. Fine neural structures course in the same region, with cutaneous branches expected to lie superficial to the extensor retinacula and across the dorsum, providing a useful spatial reference against the pedal skeleton. Orientation stays lateral, so the fibular side of the hindfoot and midfoot reads clearly. For lymphatic mapping, a muscle-free pedal view matters because it approximates the plane used for superficial lymphatic dissection and for interpreting lymphoscintigraphy patterns from interdigital or dorsal foot injections.
