Description
Shown in lateral profile, the male thoracic cage is rendered with the seventh ribs highlighted against adjacent costae, curving anteroinferiorly from their vertebral attachments toward the costal cartilages. Posteriorly, each seventh rib articulates at the costovertebral and costotransverse joints with the T7 vertebra, positioned inferior to the sixth rib and superior to the eighth, where the transition toward the false ribs begins.
