Description
Centered on the anterior thoracic wall, the female breast is rendered with the superficial venous network mapped in blue beneath the skin and across the areola and nipple. Tributaries course radially from the peripheral gland toward a more prominent subareolar plexus, then track medially toward parasternal pathways and laterally toward the axillary route, consistent with drainage to the internal thoracic and lateral thoracic venous systems. Fine venules interconnect across the upper and lower quadrants, with superficial channels running in the subcutaneous tissue overlying the mammary gland and pectoral fascia. Skin tone is shown as white, matching the subject metadata. Surface veins matter in day to day breast examination because they can become conspicuous with obstruction or increased flow. Dilated superficial veins may accompany advanced breast carcinoma with dermal lymphatic invasion, and unilateral venous engorgement can reflect axillary or subclavian vein compromise from nodal disease or catheter related thrombosis.
