Description
Across the dorsum of the male foot, the anterior tibial artery continues as the dorsalis pedis artery as it crosses the ankle joint, running distally between the tendons toward the proximal first intermetatarsal space. Lateral tarsal and medial tarsal branches radiate over the tarsus, while an arcuate artery sweeps laterally across the bases of the metatarsals to give rise to dorsal metatarsal arteries and dorsal digital arteries that course toward the phalanges. Beneath the vascular overlay, the talus and calcaneus sit proximally, with the navicular and cuboid forming the midfoot and the metatarsals and phalanges aligned distally. Bones and vessels align tightly.
