Description
Seen from the lateral aspect of a male cerebral hemisphere, the sulcus centralis is traced as a prominent groove running obliquely from the superomedial margin of the convexity toward the lateral (Sylvian) fissure, dividing the frontal lobe anteriorly from the parietal lobe posteriorly. The precentral gyrus lies immediately anterior to the sulcus and the postcentral gyrus immediately posterior, their cortical folds rendered with clear gyral and sulcal relief. Inferoposteriorly, the cerebellar hemisphere sits posterior to the brainstem, with the pons and medulla oblongata descending toward the foramen magnum. A single highlighted line directs attention.
