Description
Centered on the anterior thigh of an adult female figure, the vastus medialis of the quadriceps femoris is isolated by color, its teardrop belly occupying the distal anteromedial femur and tapering inferiorly toward the medial border of the patella. Superiorly and laterally it blends into the quadriceps mass alongside rectus femoris and vastus lateralis, while posterior-medial to its distal fibers the adductor longus and adductor magnus define the medial compartment boundary. The patella, femur, and tibia are faintly apparent beneath the musculature, giving clear context for the quadriceps tendon proximally and the patellar ligament continuing distally to the tibial tuberosity.
