Seen from a superior aspect into the cranial cavity, the skull vault frames the intracranial arterial tree in red, with the internal carotid arteries ascending from the skull base toward the parasellar region. Around the sella turcica, the hypophyseal arterial supply is emphasized as fine branches arising from the cavernous and supraclinoid segments of the internal carotid artery, coursing medially toward the pituitary gland. The circle of Willis is positioned inferior to the frontal lobes and anterior to the midbrain, its anterior cerebral arteries running anteromedially and its posterior communicating arteries bridging to the posterior circulation. For teaching pituitary vascularization, a superior view matters because it clarifies how the hypophyseal arteries relate to the optic chiasm superiorly and the cavernous sinus laterally, two landmarks that define surgical corridors to the sellar and suprasellar compartments.
