Description
Oriented in a right lateral (dextrolateral) view, the model presents the right atrium and right ventricle in the foreground with the ascending aorta rising superiorly and the pulmonary trunk and proximal pulmonary arteries coursing anteriorly. Along the atrioventricular (coronary) sulcus, the right coronary artery tracks from the right aortic sinus toward the acute margin, giving off an early conus branch and right atrial branches before continuing toward the crux cordis. The acute marginal artery descends along the inferior border toward the diaphragmatic surface, while posteriorly the right coronary artery commonly contributes to the posterior interventricular artery in the posterior interventricular sulcus. Venous return on the surface is suggested by accompanying cardiac veins, including small cardiac venous channels that parallel the right coronary distribution. Right-sided coronary anatomy matters because it governs perfusion of the right ventricle and, in right-dominant circulation, much of the inferior wall and the atrioventricular node region. This view supports pattern recognition for inferior ST-elevation myocardial infarction due to proximal right coronary artery occlusion, where associated right ventricular infarction can drive hypotension and preload sensitivity. It also matches procedural thinking for coronary angiography (right coronary artery catheter engagement) and for bypass planning when targeting the acute marginal or posterior descending territory. Use this asset in gross anatomy and cardiovascular blocks to teach coronary dominance, surface landmarks (coronary sulcus, crux), and vessel-to-territory mapping on a realistic 3D heart. It also fits cardiology slide decks, patient education on coronary artery disease, and surgical illustrations discussing CABG targets or right-sided graft routing. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
