Description
Anterior full body anatomy is presented in standard anatomical position, with the appendicular skeleton aligned to the axial column in an obese adult male habitus. Superiorly, the frontal bone, maxilla, and mandible frame the craniofacial skeleton, while inferiorly the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae stack to the sacrum, flanked by ribs and the sternum at the midline. Laterally, the clavicles span to the scapulae and proximal humeri, with the radius and ulna continuing distally to the carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges; in the lower limb the pelvis supports the femora, which articulate at the knees with the tibiae and fibulae before transitioning to tarsals, metatarsals, and toe phalanges. Joint lines read clearly. Obesity changes what you can reliably use as a surface landmark, so a front-on skeletal reference helps separate bony alignment from overlying soft tissue bulk. Valgus knee alignment, hip adduction, and increased load across the medial tibiofemoral compartment are common mechanical themes in obese patients, and this perspective supports teaching why osteoarthritis and meniscal degeneration cluster around the knee in weight-bearing malalignment.
