Description
Running within the anterior abdominal wall, the superior epigastric vein descends from the thoracic region into the rectus sheath and courses inferiorly deep to rectus abdominis, paralleling the superior epigastric artery. Inferiorly, it communicates with the inferior epigastric vein near the umbilical region, creating a continuous longitudinal venous channel along the midline abdominal wall. Superficial landmarks such as the costal margin and xiphoid region sit superior to the vessel’s origin, while the linea alba remains medial and the semilunar line lies lateral to the rectus compartment. Orientation is clear. This is an anterior male figure with other major vessels and skeletal landmarks faintly contextualizing the field.
