Description
Centered in an anterior view of the male knee joint, the transverse ligament of the knee spans horizontally across the intercondylar region, bridging the anterior horns of the medial and lateral menisci. Superiorly, the distal femur and its articular cartilage form the femoral condyles, while inferiorly the proximal tibia presents the tibial plateau beneath the meniscal fibrocartilage. Anterior to the tibiofemoral articulation, the patella sits in line with the trochlear surface, framing the anterior joint space where the menisci and their anterior attachments can be appreciated. Bony detail dominates. No overlying musculature or skin obscures the intra-articular relationships.
