Description
A fetus at 37 weeks of gestation lies curled within the uterine cavity, head directed inferiorly and the trunk flexed so that the knees are drawn toward the chest and one foot with clearly separated toes rests near the umbilicus. The rounded cranial vault carries dense scalp hair, and the auricle of the external ear is fully formed with defined helix and antihelix, reflecting the mature cartilage of late gestation.
