Description
A fetus at 38 weeks of gestation lies curled in the flexed fetal attitude inside the translucent amniotic sac, surrounded by amniotic fluid and enclosed by the muscular uterine wall and its endometrial lining. The head is presented in left lateral profile, with scalp hair, closed eyelids, a well-formed external ear and rounded facial contours reflecting the subcutaneous fat deposition of late gestation.
