Description
Presented in lateral section, the adult male skull is opened to expose the cranial cavity and skull base, with the sphenoid highlighted centrally where it forms the middle cranial fossa and articulates anteriorly with the frontal and ethmoid regions and posteriorly with the occipital bone. Superiorly, the calvaria shows the major cranial sutures along the inner table, while inferiorly the maxilla and hard palate define the anterior floor of the nasal and oral cavities. Posteroinferiorly, the mandible is emphasized as it curves from the symphysis menti toward the ramus, approaching the temporal bone at the temporomandibular region. Foramina and grooves on the endocranial surface suggest the pathways of cranial nerves and meningeal vessels.
