Apical Segmental Artery of the Right Lung

Centered on the right pulmonary artery as it departs the pulmonary trunk and courses laterally toward the right hilum, the apical segmental artery (A1) is traced as it turns superiorly into the upper lobe and breaks into smaller arterioles supplying the apical bronchopulmonary segment. An anterior perspective places the ascending aorta and aortic arch superior and medial to the pulmonary outflow, while the superior vena cava lies anterolateral on the right, partially framing the great vessels. Pulmonary veins are shown returning to the left atrium, positioned more anterior and inferior than the segmental pulmonary arterial branches at the hilum. Color coding differentiates pulmonary arterial versus venous pathways, so the branching morphology reads quickly.
