Description
Rendered in anterior anatomical position, the female integument is semi-transparent to reveal the axial and appendicular skeleton in situ. Superiorly, the cranial vault and facial skeleton are defined, including the mandible and maxilla, with the clavicles spanning laterally to the acromial ends and the scapulae implied deep to the thoracic wall. The sternum lies midline with the ribs curving posterolaterally, while the vertebral column tracks centrally from cervical through lumbar regions to the sacrum; inferiorly, the pelvic girdle (ilium, ischium, pubis) frames the obturator foramina and acetabula, continuing into the femora, tibiae, fibulae, and the bones of the hands and feet. Anterior full-body skeletal overlays like this remain the workhorse view for teaching surface anatomy and bony landmarks because you can correlate palpable points, jugular notch, costal margins, anterior superior iliac spines, patellae, medial malleoli, with their underlying osseous structures at a glance.
