Description
Presented in anterior (frontal) view, an obese adult male figure is rendered with body-wall transparency to expose the central heart within the mediastinum and the major conduits of systemic and pulmonary circulation. From the left ventricle, the ascending aorta and aortic arch course superiorly and leftward before continuing as the descending thoracic and abdominal aorta along the midline, giving rise to large-caliber branches toward the upper limbs and pelvis. Venous return is mapped in blue, with the superior vena cava draining the head, neck, and upper extremities and the inferior vena cava ascending to the right of the abdominal aorta from the lower limbs and pelvis. Distally, paired arterial and venous pathways extend into the arms and legs as simplified longitudinal trunks with segmental branching. For teaching and clinical communication, this body-habitus context matters because obesity changes surface landmarks and increases the depth from skin to vessel, which influences palpation, compression, and access planning.
