Description

Anterior thoracic wall anatomy is rendered with the rib cage and costal cartilages framing a superficial and deep venous network of the male chest. Superficial chest veins course within the subcutaneous tissue over pectoralis major, trending superolaterally toward the axillary vein and medially toward the parasternal region, where perforating tributaries communicate with deeper vessels. Between adjacent ribs, intercostal veins accompany the intercostal neurovascular bundles along the inferior margin of each rib, converging posteriorly toward the azygos system and, on the left, hemiazygos and accessory hemiazygos pathways.
