Description
Running concentrically around the orbital margin, the orbicularis oculi forms a continuous sphincter beneath the thin periorbital skin, wrapping from the medial canthus across the superior and inferior eyelids to the lateral canthus. In profile, the palpebral part lies anterior to the tarsal plates within the eyelids, while the thicker orbital part extends laterally and superiorly over the bony rim toward the temporal region.
