Description
Running superficially along the posteromedial lower limb, the great saphenous vein (vena saphena magna) is traced from the medial side of the ankle and leg toward the medial knee and proximal thigh, with the bony landmarks of the pelvis, femur, tibia, and fibula providing clear orientation. From a posterior perspective, the vein sits medial to the calf musculature and parallels the tibial shaft before coursing toward the medial thigh, where it approaches the saphenofemoral junction near the femoral triangle. Tributaries and venules converge proximally, and deeper vessels can be appreciated in relation to the femur and knee region. Bones anchor the map.
