Description
Running obliquely across the root of the neck, the transverse cervical vein is shown in lateral profile as it courses superficial to the scalene region and toward its termination into the external jugular venous pathway. Inferiorly, the clavicle frames the venous confluence near the subclavian vein, while the sternocleidomastoid lies anterolateral and the trapezius sits posteriorly as the vein traverses the posterior triangle. Smaller tributaries and adjacent lymph nodes occupy the fascia planes around the vein, and nearby arterial structures, including segments of the transverse cervical artery, provide a clear arterial-venous contrast.
