Framed in the right upper quadrant, the gallbladder (vesica biliaris) sits on the visceral surface of the liver inferior to the right lobe, its fundus projecting anteriorly while the neck turns posteromedially to become the cystic duct. As the sequence advances, the cystic duct joins the common hepatic duct to form the common bile duct (ductus choledochus), with right and left hepatic ducts converging superiorly at the hepatic hilum into the extrahepatic biliary tree. Layered emphasis shifts along the gallbladder body and infundibulum, then tracks bile pathways from the intrahepatic ducts into the hepatic ducts, through the cystic duct, and distally toward the duodenum.
